A young migrant labourer walks home barefoot. His only pair of slippers were broken during the journey between Noida and his home Muzzafarpur, Bihar, during the country-wide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thousands of migrant workers like him walked home – many with their families during the lockdown after having lost their jobs, savings dried up, & facing an uncertain future during the lockdown.

A few hundred ended up dying in accidents and from hunger and illness, during this treacherous journey in the middle of the Indian summer.
